Letter from an unknown woman

today my friend told me this story. It was written by Stefan Zweig, an Austrian writer 70 yrs ago... about a woman's devotion towards a heartless man. Really sad tale... The poor woman fell in love with the guy since she was 12... She even resorted to prostitution to raise their child. When they met again years later, he only saw her beauty and not who she really was. Despite the many hints she dropped regarding their past, he still couldn't remember her. Even his manservant recognised her! Anyway, her child died of typhus and she caught it too... hence the title. Her letter to her love at her death... Apparently, at the end of the letter, he still couldn't remember her.

It's been made into a Chinese film, starring Jiang Wen and Xu Jing Lei. The trailer is up on her website: http://www.xujinglei.org/letter/. The theme song of the movie is also very nice!!!

If I love you, what business is it of yours?
- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
