zoning out

after yet another crazy night out with the gang, got woke up this morn by my sis's alarm. the bf is bringing her to see yet another doctor. i think that's the 3rd doc she's seeing this month. apparently she sees 2 doc for different problems and i have no idea what new problem has popped up that requires her to see a 3rd doc. she just tells me that one of her medication running out. it's really bad to doctor hop but she doesn't want to listen so like that lor.

realised that i'm just really unphotogenic. i hate taking passport-size photos cos you're suppose to look presentable in it, but somehow i always look sloppy. waste money... next time should borrow digicam, find a nice bright spot to take and photoshop it before sending to print instead of going to a "professional".

mid-exam destress session last night! so fun! almost the full gathering of the fellowship of the ex-link carders. mebbe we'll have full fellowship at chalet. =) everyone was singing/shouting at the same time! madness! VOC was so distracted with settling the bill that she didn't realise that the perfect couple secretly replayed their song so that they could master it and she was wondering how come the song so long... haha...

i am so looking forward to chalet! we're gonna pretend to be 21 again! (although i really don't think our mentality has changed that much over the past 1+ years, or at least the way we are when we're together. =) )

1 week to japan!

Confused

Life's a mess. i have no idea what to do after graduation. really.

realised that the TA applications has closed. darn. no "refund" for heading down that path liao. there was a time when i wanted to be a primary sch science teacher.... bring my kids out to the science centre and let them be wowed by the omnimax theatre, to the zoo to see animals and learn about how different animals adapt to different environments, or just bring them to the school ecogarden so that the guys can pick up bird's nest fern spores on their fingers and go around freaking the girls out. LOL. those were the days.

the pri sch science syllabus is a whole lot different from what it used to be. Nature used to be a huge part of it - from building leaf litters to leaving your recess extras to rot in the science room. But the government promotes big ideas in little things. Primary 4 kids have to understand what genes do to us. Haven't seen the pri 6 textbook but i expect it to be an extension. Just like what happened to us 4 years ago, on that faithful day before we declared our majors.

I think it's really sad. Little kids don't want really to know more about things that they can't really see. Ok, maybe some really curious kids would, but putting in all these means we're cutting down elsewhere. we're losing all the fun side of science that might spur kids on to learn more. just like what it did to me.

well anyway, i don't think THEY'LL let me be a primary school teacher. probably have to teach sec sch kids who are on their way to being either disillusioned by science or actually noticing that they're missing out on the bigger picture.

what should i do after i graduate? so many responsibilities to fulfil but my options seem so limited.

bad enough that i'm already in no mood to study. someone in the house is driving me crazy with his incessant wrongful conclusion making and crapping to relatives.

my close frens would know that i lent some money to a cousin 2 years ago. or mebbe won't remember cos it's been 2 yrs. just 谈判 w her older sister. That cousin of mine PROMISED to pay me in installments and PROMISED to tell her parents. Fine if you don't pay me back in installments. Fine if you change hp number and forget to inform me. BUT YOU PROMISED TO TELL YOUR PARENTS! and she had the gall to tell her older sister that she never promised me that. Who are you trying to kid? Told her many times that i need the money back b4 i graduate. Had to resort to "threatening" to tell her parents (I KNEW SHE PROBABLY WOULDN'T DARE TO SAY!) before she got her older sister to talk to me. Trusted her so i lent her the money. SUPER PISSED OFF NOW.

so we're having not one but 2 casinos! the govt wants to make singapore a world class city. apparently, a part of being a world class city includes having a world class gambling rehab centre. WOW. i think i heard on the news something to this extent: since we've already called for tenders/proposals, we can't take back our idea of building casinos, hence we're building. so why tell the ppl that there will be a "decision made on whether to build or not" if you had already decided to build at that point of time?

dysfunctional browsers

still am not able to access my blog from IE. Blogger replied my email by giving me a list of suggested help topics pulled out from their website. HELLO? been there, done that? they said i could "reply" to get their attention but obviously that doesn't work. Hmmph. and now.

after using "reply" on Blogger, i can't access my gmail using Firefox. ridiculous. i have no idea what's going on. firefox just tells me page cannot be found and refuses to load my inbox. -___-

no lift home yesterday so i decided to walk home from tuition. It's' a 35-40 min walk from simei to home. I probably don't lift my feet high enough when i walk. almost tripped over drain covers (the kind w parallel bars running across) FOUR OR FIVE TIMES. Am pretty sure my thighs are allergic to perspiration or something. After walking for about 15 mins, i developed this itch/rash which started around the hem of my berms. was really bad. n when i almost tripped really hard but managed to recover by taking a leap of a sort, that sudden action caused the itch to worsen. it was unbearable. even worse than when i take paracetamol. Funny thing is, i never got this kind of rashes while doing PE in sch. mebbe i need to wear shorts for long walks. hmmm.

Anyway, i am pretty sure that yesterday was a sign that i needed exercise. must have waited for at least 2 min for the lift but it seemed to be perpetually stuck at coming down from the 6th floor. decided to take the stairs instead. was huffing n puffing by the time i got home.

trying to concentrate on studying for exams but obviously i'm not doing well. SIGH.

My last presentation in NUS!

can't believe that some people still insist on putting excessive amounts of words in their powerpoint slides.

the other day, i saw a presentation where they were at the "AIMS" slide. which had a para of words. but i guess the presenter recognised that he was running out of time so he only said the key words n very quickly moved on to the next slide. i couldn't finish reading any of their wordy slides. so why put so much words if you aren't going to let your audience read them?

My experience with presentations is that most people don't want to present and usually the presenter gets to edit the slides so i usually volunteer to present. can't stand crowded notes. so that day, no one wanted to step up so i volunteered again. i even asked my groupmate (Ms A) if she wanted but she was, like, "er... don't want lar... don't really know anything about the topic." (as if i do).

anyway, as the discussion went on, Ms A decided that the presentation should be split into 2 parts. slides and demo. so we decided to do slides first, demo later. then she said 2 people should present and she volunteered to do the slides. HELLO? i already did that? so i got pushed to doing the demo, which isn't too bad, really.

so everyone sent her the stuff by sun. she only sorted them out on mon night. i saw them this morn (DAY OF PRESENTATION!) and sms her to say that i felt the font colour looked weird. then she called. then she said, "actually hor, slides X and Y are related to what you are presenting right? you want to present them and the remaining slides?" can't believe it. the morn of presentation and she's pushing slides to me. of course i'm not doing it! you were the one who volunteered to cover all the slides and expected me to do the demo. So there.

the other day my friend suddenly asked me during lecture:

totally puzzling. anyways, turns out, she was trying to use that as an analogy to finding a job. haha...

went to do comm service today after missing out for 2 weeks. was there by myself and there were so many kids! 13 of them... then got this girl, spoke w a funny accent and was missing her front teeth. so i couldn't really make out what she was saying. she had a 2 yr old sister w her. cos there were a lot of kids, i was trying to find stuff for all of them to do. and their dad was just sitting there reading a WOMAN'S MAGAZINE and totally ignored his kids. sheesh! think we're a playground???

then there was this auntie who asked his son to "ask the auntie if she got..." argh!!! AUNTIE!!! ME!!!

after that, i went shopping. i really shouldn't go shopping by myself. always either make bad decisions or NO decisions at all! haha... saw a pretty nice pair of shoes!!! the kind i've been looking for!!! but then it's too high-heeled. =( prob won't be able to walk properly in it. sigh. then went Seiyu and they had an offer on jackets and pants. couldn't decide on black or beige and in the end, didn't buy. haha...

Wet feet day

rained all day.

was ready to go for an interview. but decided not to go in because:

• either the building did not update the tenant directory OR the person who called me lied about the name of the company
• the person who called me could only tell me that they are a HR company. no details at all. but the place she asked me to go to had a display of books/cds etc to boost brain power.
  

on another note...
small sis has resorted to drinking Brand's to keep herself awake. expensive stimulant.

Flat hair day

so my hair is straightening every day. almost no curls liao. pity. but the newspaper said digital perm usually lasts between 4-6months so i guess it's not that bad.

OVERSLEPT ON THE MRT TODAY! Simply too tired. i saw ITE flashing by me and next thing i knew "PASIR RIS" was booming into my ears. =P 1st time i missed my stop... really can't blame me. 8hrs of sleep over 2 days isn't good for your brain, or enough to keep me conscious enough to know where i am. scratching, grinding and calls for oiling are keeping me awake at night. oh well.

today... was an interesting day. met someone i didn't expect to ever see again. i think that person recognised me too, although we didn't say anything to each other. i guess some things are fated? just hope that i won't ever bump into THAT person again. no, not the one i met today. anyway, most ppl should know who i'm talking about.

think i'm zoning out again. must hit the bed before sis does. mebbe i'll keep her up tonight with a symphony of my own... LOL.
